The City of Gerald Planning and Zoning will conduct a public hearing regarding the proposed vacation of the following prescribed property at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016, in the Gerald City Hall:



A tract of land being all of Lots 1 thru 6 of "Scrivner's Addition" to the City of Gerald, as recorded in Plat Book "C", Page 33 of the Franklin County Recorder of Deeds Office, part of Scrivner Avenue as vacated by Ordinance No. 254 of the City of Gerald and part of a 16 ft. wide alley vacated by Ordinance No. 178 of the City of Gerald, being part of the Northwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 11, Township 42 North, Range 4 West of the 5th P.M., City of Gerald, Franklin County, Missouri, to wit;


Beginning at a set iron at the northwest corner of said Lot 1, also being in the south right‑of‑way line of Clay Street, thence along the north line of said Lot 1 and said south right‑of‑way line S88°‑29'‑08"E 337.62 ft. to a found iron rod within said vacated street right‑of‑way; thence leaving said north line and said south right‑of‑way line S02°‑25'‑11"W 159.85 ft. to a set iron rod at the easterly projection of the centerline of said vacated alley; thence along said project and said centerline N88°‑29'‑08"W 337.62 ft. to a set iron rod at the intersection of said centerline and the southerly projection of the west line of said Lot 1; thence leaving said centerline along said projection and said west line N02°‑25'‑11"E 159.85 ft. to the point of beginning, containing 1.24 acres.  Subject to any and all easements, restrictions, conditions, etc. of record.

The History of Gerald
The name Gerald was taken from our early settlers named "Fitzgerald". The Fitz was cut off the word leaving Gerald which is a German word meaning "Strong with Spear".
In 1907 Gerald become incorporated as a Village. The County Court in Union, MO appointed the first board of trustees. In February 1947 Gerald became a 4th class city by special vote of the people by a large majority.
Gerald is situated on high rolling ground surrounded by good farming land. It is bordered on the south by the Red Oak and Bourbeuse River and by Boeuff Creek on the north. The Missouri River runs north about 30 miles. The altitude of Gerald is 891 feet. It is located on the Rock Island Railroad in the Western part of Franklin County about 74 miles west of St. Louis and 57 miles east of the state capitol, Jefferson City, on Highway 50 with a population currently of 1,345.
